Blepharoplasty Eyelid Lift Surgery in Baton Rouge

About This Treatment

Upper Blepharoplasty

An upper eyelid lift can help reverse the aging process by removing or repositioning excess skin and fat, enhancing your natural contours and restoring the expressive qualities of your eyes.

Blepharoplasty will help eliminate sagging eyelids, pouches and excess folds around the eyes.

Over time, age, heredity and too much time in the sun makes the skin around our eyes begin to show signs of damage and deflation, making us look tired, older and listless. Even gravity can conspire to sag the delicate skin and eyelid position.

If your friends occasionally ask if you are tired or angry, but you feel great, you may be amazed at the results of an upper eyelid lift.

The upper eyelid blepharoplasty can be done alone or with other procedures such as a lower lid lift, muscle tuck (ptosis repair) or forehead lift. If the eyebrows are drooping, a forehead lift might enhance the results. Skin wrinkles of the lower lid can be treated by laser or chemical peel at the same time. For some younger people, genetic factors such as bags or excess folds detract from the vital appearance of the eyes and this can affect facial expressions. Upper eyelid blepharoplasty can make a remarkable difference in the appearance of the eyes. Old blepharoplasty techniques tend to take out too much tissue, leaving the eyelids hollow and rounded in appearance. Doctor Olson’s surgical technique reduces features like poor skin texture, dark circles and bags, and restores normal position, function, texture, volume, and shape to the eyes. So instead of looking “surgical”, you look like your more youthful self.

Upper eyelid blepharoplasty may be done under local anesthesia in the office setting.

Lower Blepharoplasty

Lower eyelid blepharoplasty removes or repositions the fat bulges and loose skin of the under eyes or lower eyelids. Many factors, including heredity, smoking and sun damage accelerate these changes. You may appear tired, sad, and older than you feel. Lower eyelid surgery will correct this, leaving you with a more youthful contour and alert appearance.

This procedure is frequently done at the same time as other procedures, such as upper eyelid blepharoplasty, forehead lift, and can be combined with laser resurfacing to smooth skin wrinkles.

Doctor Olson has a specialized 3 dimensional approach to the lower eyelid surgery. She recontours the fat through the back side of the eyelid (transconjunctival approach) so no external scar under the eye is evident. She uses an advanced technique to re-drape and preserve the fat to fill the lost fat in the tear trough. The eyelid is horizontally supported so that the eye shape remains a youthful almond shape into older age. Sagging, retraction and round eye is prevented. It is important to maintain the eyelid function to protect the eye and restore a normal position and shape to the eyes.

Eyelid surgery may be performed at any age and all times of the year in the office based or outpatient surgical center setting. 99 percent of surgeons are NOT eye specialists – ASOPRS surgeons are extensively trained and experienced oculofacial surgeons.
