About Jane Olson, MD

Curriculum Vitae

Doctor Olson is board certified, recertified every 10 years and fellowship trained as an oculofacial plastic surgeon. She is a fellow of the prestigious American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) with fewer than 650 fellows nationwide. “Today’s aesthetic surgeries and minimally invasive techniques can dramatically improve the way people look and feel about themselves.” An Associate Clinical Professor at Yale University and past director of Yale Oculoplastic and Orbital Surgery, Doctor Olson has been in private practice since 1992 specializing in performing aesthetic eyelid surgery, facial injectables and lasers.

As both an academic and a practicing surgeon, Doctor Olson keeps abreast of the latest advancements in her field. “Great strides have been made in cosmetic enhancement in recent years. I think the paradigm of facial surgery has gone from being aggressive to more minimally invasive procedures, including the use of lasers.” Doctor Olson’s advanced use of fillers like Hyaluronic acids (Juvederm Ultra, Juvederm Ultra Plus, Juvederm Volbella, Juvederm Vollure, Juvederm Voluma, Restylane®, Restylane Lyft®, Retylane Refyne and Defyne®,Restylane Kysse, RHA portfolio), Radiesse, collagen, Sculptra® and Silhoutte InstaLift produce beautiful lift and contour. “These new generation fillers and biostimulators used with my combined layering technique provide longer lasting and more cost-effective results. Even in the eyelids, volume preserving blepharoplasty and laser blepharoplasty can prevent people from looking hollow as they age.” Working around the eyes is something that Doctor Olson takes very seriously. While she is all about aesthetics, she says safety and the function of the eyes is always most important. Dr Olson believes in combining surgical and non-surgical treatments in a nuanced fashion to achieve the most natural facial shape and contours."

When taking care of patients, Doctor Olson takes the necessary time to assess their desires, decide on the most appropriate treatment plan for that individual, and then see the person through the entire process of aesthetic improvement. In many cases she does so by using a combination of surgery, fillers, Botox, lights, lasers and medical skin care. Generally treatment will be done over time providing incremental changes that make our patients look better, not different. No matter what the treatment plan is, all of Doctor Olson’s services are provided in an approachable, friendly and caring manner.

ASOPRS

The American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) was founded in 1969 to establish a qualified body of surgeons who have training and experience in this highly specialized field. The purpose of the Society is to "advance training, research and patient care in the field of aesthetic, plastic and reconstructive surgery specializing in the face, orbits, eyelids and lacrimal system."

In the United States there are only a few hundred doctors that have devoted themselves to the specialty of eye plastic surgery –– ASOPRS surgeons. It takes years of specialized training to safely perform procedures on the delicate tissues around your eyes. To master the specialty, ASOPRS surgeons begin with four years of eye surgery training after completing medical school. They become board certified ophthalmologists. Then they complete two years of extensive, advanced oculoplastic (eye plastic) and facial surgery training, qualifying examinations and a scientific thesis. All this before being considered by their peers for fellowship in ASOPRS.
