Anti-Aging Your Eyes

August 8, 2013

The eyes are an extremely delicate area so you have to treat them as such.  There are many options for treatment of the eye area. We have come up with some ideas to help determine the best treatment for in and around the eye area.

Daily Preparation:

Your skin care is extremely important!  Dr. Olson recommends for most patients to use a Vitamin C, sunscreen, and a moisturizer daily.  The addition of a retinol product for cellular renewal is sometimes recommended also.  When applying product under the eye, remember to follow the bone around your cheek and gently apply product under the eye area. FYI, the skin under your eye is thin and the product can travel up slightly and can irritate your eyes if you place too close to the lash line.  Our staff is always here to help you.

Lines and Wrinkles:

BOTOX® or DYSPORT® are the treatments of choice for the dynamic wrinkles, the movement-related lines and grooves in your face.  A tiny amount of BOTOX precisely injected, relaxes specific muscles and allows the body’s own collagen to regenerate in those lines formed from repetitive movement. BOTOX can be used so artfully so as to have a subtle softening effect that is neither obvious nor takes away our ability to communicate. Importantly, BOTOX can be used to shape the face by the advanced balanced injection to muscles of facial expression.

Crepiness:

Cosmetic imperfections can appear on our skin at all stages of life and include wrinkles, scars, brown spots to name a few.  To improve and remove these unwanted imperfections Total FX is your solution.  By treating deep in the dermis, as well as the skin's surface Total FX is your solution. Dr. Olson will provide you with a skin care regimen to follow for the days after your treatment as your skin heals.  Fine lines, wrinkles, scars, pigmentation, tone and texture will continue to improve up to 6 months post procedure.

Sagging and/or Puffiness:

Over time age, heredity, and sun damage makes the skin especially around our eye area begin to show signs of damage and deflation, making us look tired, older and listless.  Gravity can conspire to sag the delicate skin and eyelid position.  An upper eyelid lift can help reverse the aging process by removing or repositioning excess skin and fat, enhancing your natural contours and restoring the expressive qualities of your eyes.  Blepharoplasty will help eliminate sagging eyelids, pouches and excess folds around the eyes.

Thinning Lashes:

Latisse is a topical solution available by prescription that promotes the growth of longer, fuller, darker eyelashes.  It is available at our office.

Brows:

Shaping your eyebrows , by waxing or tweezing, will enhance the bone structure-definition.  Custom brow shaping is available at our offices.

Lastly when deciding on a procedure for your eyes an (The American Society of Ophthalmic and Reconstructive Surgery) ASOPRS Surgeon should be consulted!  ASOPRS surgeons make up 1% of eye plastic specialist and are extensively trained compared to 99% of surgeons who NOT eye specialists – ASOPRS surgeons are extensively trained and experienced oculofacial surgeons.
