Rosacea

July 10, 2013

Rosacea is a vascular condition that, typically occurs in the center of the face, which is often brought on by certain triggers.  Often confused with acne, rosacea is a condition that causes the skin to become red and bumpy.  This can be brought on by triggers like going out in the sun, eating spice foods, over scrubbing the skin, taking hot baths, stress, hard cheeses, skin care and/or drinking alcohol.   Rosacea may come and go and tends to affect the cheeks, nose and forehead.  If not treated properly, the skin can progressively worsen and even cause facial tissue to become extremely red, swollen, and irritated.  There is no cure for Rosacea but there are a few things you can do to manage the effects such as topicals, oral medications, and the BBL, light-based treatment.  The longer you wait to get the right treatment for your skin the harder it can be to treat.  Educate yourself to learn your triggers.  Call today to schedule a consultation with Dr. Olson.
