KYBELLA

June 16, 2015

KYBELLA is the first and only nonsurgical treatment for improvement in the appearance of moderate-to-severe fat below the chin, known as submental fat. Kybella, also known as ATX-101, is identical to deoxycholic acid which is naturally produced in your body. Deoxycholic produced in the body helps the body absorb fats. Kybella is a cytolyctic drug, which when injected into the tissue physically destroys the cell membrane. When properly injected into submental fat, the drug destroys fat cells.

KYBELLA is administered as an injection into the fat tissue in the submental area. Patients may receive up to 50 injections in a single treatment, with 2 up to 6  treatments administered no less than one month apart to receive optimal results.

Side effects are temporary and minor. They include swelling, bruising, and discomfort post injection. The FDA disclosed bruising, swelling, redness and hardness to be common side effects of a Kybella treatment.

KYBELLA is being distributed in a dispensing pack that has a unique hologram on the vial label. If there is no hologram, do not use the product. Kybella is manufactured by Kythera Biopharmaceuticals Inc based in Westlake Village, California.
